Start with the cargo footprint

Ask whether fuel and requested tarp service are included. Confirm waiting-time terms, cancellation terms, special securement or handling charges, and any costs associated with permits or escorts if the loaded vehicle requires them.

A quote also needs a defined shipment. Changes to dimensions, weight, pickup date, or destination may require repricing.

Trailer capacity is not a single number

The specific tractor-trailer combination, axle loading, cargo distribution, and trailer ratings all matter. Great Dane notes that its flatbed load ratings depend on configuration. A generic maximum payload should not replace carrier confirmation for a dense or concentrated load.

Make the request easy to evaluate
