Equipment Auction Shipping: Arrange Pickup Before the Removal Deadline

Winning equipment at auction creates a transportation deadline. A sale listing may tell you what you bought without explaining how it will be loaded or released. Before requesting a truck, verify the actual machine, its location, and the auction site’s removal requirements.

Obtain the release information

Confirm payment clearance, lot numbers, buyer authorization, pickup references, and the final removal deadline. Ask whether pickup is by appointment and whether the driver needs a release form from your company.

Some auctions involve several seller locations. Match each lot to its actual address; do not assume all items are at the address on the auction’s homepage.

Verify the equipment at the site

Request current photos and transport dimensions, including attachments and loose accessories. Identify the model, serial number where available, and weight from a reliable source.

An auction description saying “runs” does not establish how a machine will load. Ask whether it starts, drives, steers, brakes, and can reach the loading area. Clarify who operates it during pickup.

Confirm what loading help exists

Ask about forklifts, cranes, ramps, personnel, and loading hours. Determine whether loading is included in the sale, charged separately, or entirely the buyer’s responsibility.

If attachments are loose, define how they will be packaged for handling. A driver should not arrive expecting a forklift when the site only allows buyer-provided loading equipment.

Match pickup to receiving readiness

Confirm destination access and unloading before choosing the transport date. A removal deadline may force pickup earlier than your facility can receive, creating storage or staging needs.

Send lot details, release status, removal date, dimensions, condition, and both loading plans. Ask for a realistic pickup commitment and identify auction-site charges outside the trucking scope.
