An agricultural implement can be wider in the field than it is during transport, but its folded position still needs to be measured. Planters, tillage equipment, headers, and attachments also differ in how they can be supported and loaded. Quote the actual configuration that will travel.
Confirm how the implement will be prepared
Identify the make, model, attachments, and intended shipping position. Obtain instructions from the owner, dealer, or manufacturer for folding, locking, removing components, and supporting the equipment.
Do not assume a position used for movement around a farm is approved for loading onto a trailer. The responsible equipment specialist should confirm the configuration and preparation before transportation is selected.
Measure the complete prepared unit
Provide length, width, height, and verified weight after preparation. Include protruding hitch points, wheels, hoses, brackets, and separate attachments. List removed items individually.
Photos help explain the shape, but they do not replace measurements. Identify any dimension that remains uncertain and arrange to confirm it before the carrier commits equipment.
Explain how loading will happen
Tell the broker whether the implement can roll, requires a tow vehicle, or needs a lift. Identify approved lifting or support information and who supplies the necessary equipment.
A towed implement does not automatically qualify for movement over the highway on its own running gear. Have the transport provider evaluate the proposed method and applicable route requirements instead of assuming road towing is included.
Prepare the destination for the same configuration
Confirm unloading capability, site access, ground conditions, and receiving contact. If components are removed for travel, identify who reassembles them and where they can be staged.
Send the quote request with prepared dimensions, weight, configuration photos, loading method, route, and delivery needs. Ask the carrier to review the loaded combination for equipment and permit requirements where applicable.
