Commercial kitchen equipment can be bulky, fragile, and difficult to move through a finished building. Buying a range, refrigerator, or prep line does not establish how it will be disconnected, packaged, delivered, or installed. Define those steps before requesting transportation.
Confirm the equipment’s shipping condition
List each unit with make or model, prepared dimensions, weight, and packaging. Identify removable shelves, panels, legs, or accessories that travel separately.
For used equipment, assign qualified personnel to disconnect utilities, clean and prepare the unit, and perform any manufacturer-required transport preparation. The truck driver should not be expected to disconnect appliances as part of a standard pickup.
Separate building removal from truck loading
Determine who moves the unit out of the kitchen and who places it on the vehicle. Provide door clearances, turns, steps, loading access, and available handling equipment.
A commercial address may still lack a loading dock. If ground-level service is needed, verify the complete unit’s footprint and weight against the proposed unloading method.
Choose the actual delivery scope
Specify whether freight stops at a dock, at an agreed ground-level point, or moves inside under a separately confirmed service. Identify unpacking, placement, and installation as distinct requirements.
Confirm the receiving location is ready. Construction materials, unfinished entrances, or unavailable installers can prevent an otherwise timely delivery from being useful.
Reconcile the equipment and accessories
Photograph prepared units, label loose parts, and supply a receiving inventory. Ask the owner or manufacturer to specify any upright-only or other orientation requirement rather than assuming equipment can be tilted to fit.
Quote using the finished package dimensions, weight, addresses, access conditions, and required service. Include the installer’s schedule if the delivery must support a specific opening date.
