Solar modules can arrive in substantial factory packs that need handling equipment and an unloading plan appropriate to the package. The electrical rating of the panels does not tell a trucking provider their shipping dimensions or weight. Quote the prepared shipment and confirm how the installation site will receive it.

Work from the factory pack information

Provide module model, units per pack, pack count, outside dimensions, and gross weight. Identify inverters, mounting parts, or other items shipping separately so they are not omitted from the equipment plan.

Obtain the manufacturer’s current handling instructions for the actual packaging. JinkoSolar, for example, publishes unpacking and storage instructions; use the applicable document for your product rather than assuming another manufacturer’s rules apply.

Keep packaging changes under control

Tell the provider whether packs are intact or have been opened for inspection or partial use. Have the supplier approve preparation for further transport when the original package is no longer complete.

Do not represent an opened or rebuilt pack as unchanged factory packaging. Provide photos and final measurements so the carrier and receiving team can evaluate the actual load.

Confirm site unloading capability

Identify the equipment, operator, clearances, surface conditions, and space needed to unload and place the packs. Share the approved lifting and support requirements with those responsible for handling.

A forklift available elsewhere on the project may not be available at the scheduled delivery time. Get the receiving crew’s commitment before releasing the truck.

Deliver to the phase that is ready

Ask the project team where the packs can be stored under the manufacturer’s instructions and which installation area will use them first. Avoid sending every shipment simply because production has finished if the site cannot safely receive it.

Request a quote with the package list, protection instructions, access photos, and delivery sequence. Clarify that unpacking, distribution around the project, and installation are separate services unless specifically included.
