An industrial robot’s working envelope is different from its shipping configuration. Preparing the arm, controller, tooling, and cables for transport requires the owner’s qualified service or integration team. Plan that work before measuring the shipment or assigning a truck.

Establish the approved transport configuration

Identify the robot model and obtain its manufacturer’s transportation instructions. Ask qualified personnel to establish the required transport position, mechanical restraints, and any preparation of attached tooling.

Do not improvise a compact pose simply to fit a vehicle. The approved position and handling procedure need to match the specific model and configuration.

Inventory the complete system

List the robot arm, controller, teach pendant, cables, end-of-arm tooling, bases, and separate accessories. Record prepared dimensions and weights for each shipping unit.

Label associated components so the receiving integrator can match them. The owner should arrange any required backups or configuration records through its own technical process before disconnection.

Review lifting and support

Provide approved lifting points, support requirements, and any restrictions involving the installed tooling or base. Identify the handling contractor and equipment at each location.

A crane hook or forklift at the facility does not establish an approved lifting method. Share the relevant documents before transport so the carrier can review the actual cargo and support footprint.

Define the receiving handoff

Confirm whether the robot goes to storage, a repair facility, or an installation area. Distinguish unloading from positioning, integration, calibration, and commissioning.

Request a quote with model information, prepared dimensions, weights, handling instructions, cargo value, and access requirements. Reconcile component identifiers and visible condition at pickup and delivery so the receiving team gets the system described in the inventory.
